CoD Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play Explained (Dates, Rewards)

Hey everyone! Today I’m going to be talking about Call of Duty Modern Warfare’s 2 ranked mode. I’m going to be explaining to you in short how exactly does ranked mode work.

I’m a professional CoD MW 2 booster here at Boosting Factory and I boost ranked regularly in CoD as a part of my job. So today I’m going to help you by sharing my info.

When Does CoD MW 2 Ranked Season 1 Start?

Season 1 of CoD MW 2 ranked play starts on February 15th, 2023.

When Does CoD MW 2 Ranked Season 1 End?

We expect the Season 1 of ranked play to end on May 17th, 2023.

How Does CoD Modern Warfare 2 ranked play work?

Ranked Play is the official competitive 4v4 Multiplayer mode for MW 2. It uses the official rules, restrictions, maps, and modes from the Call of Duty League. When the Call of Duty League rules change, you can be sure that the Ranked Play rules will also change.

To get into Ranked Play, players must be at least Level 16, but all unrestricted items, like weapons and attachments, will be unlocked automatically so that everyone is equally strong, at least when it comes to weapons.

There are 3 modes and the following maps that you will be playing on:

Hardpoint:

• Al Bagra Fortress


• Breenbergh Hotel


• Embassy


• Mercado Las Almas


• Zarqwa Hydroelectric

Search & Destroy:

• Al Bagra Fortress


• Breenbergh Hotel


• El Asilo


• Embassy


• Mercado Las Almas

Control:

• Al Bagra Fortress


• Breenbergh Hotel


• El Asilo

How Do Ranks Work?

First of all, there are no placement matches that will determine your SR. Everyone will start at the lowest rank (division) in Bronze.

These are the divisions:

• Bronze – 0-899 SR


• Silver – 900-2,099 SR


• Gold – 2,100-3,599 SR


• Platinum – 3,600-5,399 SR


• Diamond – 5,400-7,499 SR


• Crimson – 7,500-9,999 SR


• Iridescent – 10,000 SR minimum


• Top 250 – 10,000+ SR (see below)

In simple terms, to progress, you need to win games. Your own performance during the match will also affect how much you win, and probably how much you lose. Therefore do not give up. In higher divisions, team performance will be more emphasized than individual performance.

In each of these divisions, there are 3 sub tiers, for example Bronze 1, Bronze 2, and Bronze 3. There will also be a special Top 250 rank for the best of the best where we expect most of our CoD MW 2 ranked boosters to be in. A minimum of 10,000 SR is required, but if top 250 players have more, then the minimum could be for example 11,000.

You can also invite up to 3 players to your group and play with them, however, there’s a SR threshold.

• Bronze through Platinum players can party up with no restrictions.


• Diamond and Crimson players can only form parties with and play against other players within two Skill Divisions.


• Iridescent and Top 250 Players can only form parties with and play against other players within one Skill Division.

The rewards at the end of season will be for the highest SR you had. For example if you were Iridescent but dropped to Crimson, you will still get Iridescent rewards.

When the new season comes, everyone will be soft-reset 1 division back and if you’re Crimson or lower you will have demotion protection for first 3 games.

Iridescent and Top 250 players will start at Diamond 1 after soft reset and have demotion protection too.

Secondary Rank System

There’s also a secondary rank system where you start at Rank 1 and progress to Rank 50. If you lose nothing happens, so you can just keep grinding. These ranks will not reset every season.


You will also grind towards your Seasonal Win Challenges which will offer new rewards every season. These two systems are in no way related to the main Skill Rating system!

Quality of Life Features in MW 2 Ranked

If any player quits or disconnects before game starts, the match will be cancelled. If a player disconnects during the match, everyone outside of his group will NOT lose any SR.

Once you reach a new division, you will not lose any SR for the first 3 matches as a demotion protection mechanism. After you do lose enough SR, it has to be 2 losses in a row to trigger a demotion.

And a new cool feature is that you can get Hot Streak Flames if you do 3 or more wins in a row and showoff in any game mode.

Seasonal Ranked Rewards

For the Seasonal Win Rewards you will get a Sticker at 5 wins and a Pro Issue SMG Blueprint at 10 wins. Further you will get a Charm, Decal, Loading screen all the way up to a Weapon Camo that you get after 100 wins.

For the secondary rank system rewards are the following:

• Rank 5: “Ranked Competitor” Operator Skin Pack, one “Home” version and one “Away” version awarded for both the Male and Female CDL Operators


• Rank 15: Pro Issue Sidearm Blueprint, which has similar attachments to what is used at the highest level of competitive play.


• Rank 30: New Gun Screen that tracks Ranked Play wins.


• Rank 40: Pro Issue Combat Knife Blueprint, which is another popular competitive Secondary weapon.


• Rank 50: “Ranked Veteran” Operator Skins (Home and Away) awarded to Male and Female CDL Operators, proof of your commitment to Ranked Play no matter your Skill Division

And lastly, the rewards for the primary Skill Rating system are.

• Bronze and Silver: New Emblem


• Gold: Four Operator Skins, a Gold Animated Emblem, and a Gold Weapon Charm


• Platinum: Four Operator Skins, a Platinum Animated Emblem, and a Platinum Weapon Charm


• Diamond: Four Operator Skins, a Diamond Animated Emblem, and a Diamond Weapon Charm


• Crimson: Four Operator Skins, a Crimson Animated Emblem, and a Crimson Weapon Charm


• Iridescent: Four Operator Skins, an Iridescent Animated Emblem, an Iridescent Weapon Charm, and an Iridescent Calling Card


• Top 250: Four Operator Skins, a Top 250 Animated Emblem, a Top 250 Weapon Charm, and a Top 250 Calling Card


• #1 Ranked Play player: Four Operator Skins, and one-of-a-kind exclusive Animated Calling Card and Emblem

At the end of each Ranked Play Season, your highest Skill Division placement for the Season determines what rewards you earn, as well as where you start for the next Season.
