Deadlock is heavily reliant on the heroes you choose. That's why knowing about the best Deadlock heroes is equally important besides learning the gameplay mechanics.
Since they are being rebalanced every few months, the average player can't easily curate the best Deadlock characters. But don't worry, I have done that for you. Before I share the list, it's time to understand the importance of choosing the right hero.
Why is choosing the right Deadlock hero so important?
You need to pay attention to your chosen hero for a few reasons.
1. Make your team stronger
The right hero makes your team stronger. Instead of choosing one that is a liability to the team, choose one that adds to the team's power.
2. Establish dominance right from the early stages
Most Deadlock players make the mistake of choosing champions who scale later but have a weak early game. Instead of making this mistake, choose a versatile champion who is suitable for every stage of the game.
3. Countering any opponent
Instead of choosing a champion with only specific abilities, choosing a versatile champion is best to counter any opponent.
4. Making the game easier and entertaining for yourself
The right champion can make the game easier for you, especially once you master his/her abilities. Not only that, but such a champion makes the game more entertaining.
It's now time to look at the best Deadlock heroes.

1. Seven
Seven's stats make him one of the best heroes in the game. For example, a DPS of 70, 63 melee damage, movement speed of 7 m/s, and health of 550 help him stand out. Additionally, the 29 ammo is pretty decent.
Apart from the stats, his versatility is another reason he is at the top of this list. To understand why he is so good, take a look at some of his abilities:
Lightning Ball: The ball of lightning that Seven shoots causes 80 DPS to enemies in its impact radius.
Static Charge: Using this ability, you can target a single enemy hero to stun and damage them. The hero remains stunned for 1.1 seconds.
Power surge: Seven causes shock damage to enemies in this attack. The damage also bounces between enemies. The weapon projecting this shock remains charged for 10 seconds.
Storm Cloud: Storm Cloud causes damage up to 124 DPS for 7 seconds. The ability helps Seven impact every enemy within a certain radius.
Add to that his attributes like high fire rates, quick reload, and Seven, become even more powerful.
When it comes to downsides, mobility is what makes him a bit vulnerable. However, high AOE damage and a big range can help the player combat this downside to a certain extent.
That's why if you want to gain an advantage in Deadlock, you should pick Seven.
2. Haze
Haze is a good option when searching for a character suitable for multiple stages of the game. If you take a look at her playstyle, you'll realize that she relies on bursts of damage and crowd control.
Before I discuss her abilities, I'd like to analyze her stats. Her max health of 500, DPS of 56, Bullets Per Sec of 10, and Ammo of 25 ensure that her stats are pretty well-rounded.
Her abilities include:
Sleep Dagger: In this ability, she throws a dagger that damages the target and puts them to sleep. This ability provides range and comes in handy in the early game.
Smoke Bomb: Smoke Bomb helps her become invisible and adds to sprint speed. Only close enemies can see her. This ability helps her in mid game.
Fixation: Fixation is her ability, which causes bullet damage while shooting.
Bullet Dance: This ability helps her go into a flurry and start firing on nearby weapons within a range of 15m. It helps her cause damage to multiple enemies. This ability comes in handy in every stage of the game.
Some of her abilities are more effective when used in combos. For example, combine Quicksilver Reload with Sleep Dagger to consistently damage enemies at a brisk pace.
Haze relies heavily on her combos, which makes it difficult for newer players to fully utilize her potential. Only practice can help overcome this shortcoming.
Her ability to cause significant damage in every stage of the game is the reason why she is so high on this list.
3. MO & Krill
MO & Krill is a tank combo with versatile abilities, helping the player disarm, lockdown, or slow down enemies. With the right build, significant damage can be caused to enemies. With high survivability, you have an upper hand over the opponents instantly.
Some of the abilities that help it stand out include:
Scorn: The ability causes damage to enemies in a 10m radius and heals the player.
Burrow: This ability helps the player move faster while gaining bullet armor and spirit. Once the hero re-emerges, enemies in the vicinity experience 80 DPS and are also slowed down.
Sand Blast: True to its name, it sprays sand and disarms enemies in front.
With DPS of 70, Ammo of 29, and max health of 550, MO & Krill has a robust profile.
In the early game, the survivability, and swift movement, helps MO & Krill. In mid-game, AOE abilities come in handy. Ability to knock and damage multiple enemies helps disrupt enemy lines in the late game.
MO & Krill can move swiftly using Burrow, but that's more suited for attacking enemies at the site of re-emergence. Other than that, mobility is limited, especially when it comes to repositioning. So, the player needs to learn about proper positioning. Additionally, MO & Krill is susceptible to burst damage. The only way to avoid this shortcoming is to procure the right items in the build.
Once you address these shortcomings, MO & Krill is an excellent option for gaining an upper hand over enemies.
4. Abrams
Excellent utility, high survivability, and versatility work in favor of Abrams. You might have also noticed these attributes in most above champions as well.
The chaos that Abrams creates with his abilities means you can create a disruption in enemy lines. Some of his abilities that come in handy doing so:
Siphon Life: This ability reduces the health of enemies within a 10m radius.
Shoulder Charge: This ability helps him charge forward and dash into enemies, causing up to 40 damage and stunning them for a limited duration.
Infernal Resilience: This ability helps regenerate health to a limited extent.
Seismic Impact: This ability propels you upwards, and when you slam down on the ground, enemies within 9m are dealt with damage up to 150 and are stunned.
If you're interested in the stats, he has a DPS of 63, light melee damage of 63, and max health of 600.
In the early game, his ability to regenerate health and absorb damage helps him survive longer. With multiple crowd control abilities, you can easily push and eliminate the weaker enemies in the mid-game while protecting your allies. In the late game, you can soak in damage and cause damage to multiple enemies while disrupting their strategies.
Ammo is one of Abrams's shortcomings since it's at 9. However, proper positioning and using the abilities help to a certain extent. Mobility is another issue since the default Move Speed is only 6.5 m/s. The best way to combat this issue is to procure items that can boost movement speed or use the ability that boosts Movement Speed as frequently as possible.
Despite these shortcomings, Abrams is a champion you can rely on.
5. Kelvin
Champions with a tanky profile work great in any game, including Deadlock. Kelvin is one such champion. Some of the stats that help him stand out include a DPS of 81, light melee damage of 63, and max health of 600.
His presence in the middle of this list can be attributed to some of his abilities that I have highlighted below:
Frost grenade: Frost grenade helps cause 80 damage in a 6.5m radius and also slows down enemies.
Ice Path: This ability helps him create a floating trail which adds to his Move Speed and Sprint Speed aiding his mobility.
Arctic Beam: This beam causes 60 DPS to target. Since the length of the beam is 25m, you can damage multiple enemies easily.
Frozen Shelter: This ability freezes air around him, creating a protective dome that helps him regenerate health and slow down enemies.
A balance of offensive and defensive abilities ensures that he has an edge over his enemies. Additionally, his ability to regenerate health helps him survive longer.
Use his abilities right, and you can dominate every stage of the game. For example, crowd control abilities help him control areas in the early game. Abilities like Frost Grenade and
Frozen Shelter helps you slow down enemies and attack them. This helps him in mid-game. In the late game, his high survivability and ability to attack priority targets from far away using Arctic Beam come in handy.
He also has a few shortcomings. One such shortcoming is low damage output. Upgrading abilities and proper positioning can help you overcome that. Mobility is another one of his shortcomings, which can be dealt with by upgrading Ice Path to reduce cool down and using it as frequently as possible.
Thus, when you overcome his shortcomings, he is an excellent hero to go with.
6. Warden
Warden is known for chasing down enemies and dueling with them. This ability helps Warden contribute to his team and also hold the frontlines.
With stats like a DPS of 79 and a max health of 550, he is the right duelist to gain control of any battle. However, not all of his abilities are offensive. He has equally effective defensive abilities as well. Below, I will cover some of them.
Alchemical Flask: This ability helps Warden throw a flask that can slow down and damage enemies within a 7m radius of where it lands. The maximum damage it can cause is 55.
Willpower: It helps Warden gain bonus movement speed and a 150 Spirit Shield.
Binding Word: This ability helps him curse an enemy who is then immobilized and experiences damage if the enemy doesn't move away in a certain time. The maximum damage caused is 120.
Last Stand: It helps him release pulses that damage enemies in a 12m radius, causing 100 DPS.
Warden's multiple abilities can impact enemies in a certain radius, making him suitable for crowd control. Warden can also work with the team to protect allies and cause damage.
In the early game, his tankiness comes in handy. Frontline protection comes in handy in the mid-game. Survivability due to the shield helps him soak damage in the late stage.
However, he, too, has shortcomings. Most of Warden's abilities are short-range, which means he is susceptible to champions who can attack from far. Proper positioning and team coordination are the solution to this problem.
Another one of his shortcomings is the low burst damage. While he has offensive attacks, the DPS is somewhat limited. Right positioning is the solution to this problem.
Additionally, you need to collect items to boost mobility so that you can escape quickly.
While Warden does have shortcomings, they can be tackled, and that's why Warden is a suitable choice.
7. McGinnis
McGinnis stands out because of her turrets, healing powers, and ample ammo count. Her ability to dominate any stage of the game is another reason why she is on this list.
Some of her stats that stand out include a DPS of 89, Ammo of 66, and max health of 550. Her abilities include:
Mini Turret: It is a turret that automatically shoots at enemies within 15m range for a limited time.
Medicinal Specter: She deploys a spirit that can heal nearby allies.
Spectral Wall: She creates a wall that divides the area and damages and slows down enemies.
Heavy Barrage: It allows her to fire rockets at a targeted location.
Since McGinnis can poke and attack from a distance, she can dominate the early game. Her Crowd Control abilities and high DPS make her suitable for mid-game. In the late game, McGinnis can contribute to the team, control crowds, and even keep enemies at bay.
McGinnis doesn't have great mobility, but proper positioning can help you counter that.
Another of her shortcomings is her vulnerability to burst damage. Proper positioning and team coordination can help overcome this problem.
Like any other hero, McGinnis also has cooldown periods. However, itemization can help reduce these cooldown periods to make her more potent.
Despite these shortcomings, McGinnis is one of the best deadlock heroes you can choose.
8. Lady Geist
Lady Geist is a vampire who can cast abilities using her health while draining the health of the opponents. Like the heroes listed above, Lady Geist is versatile and has a strong presence in every stage of the game.
Lady Geist is a good option with a max health of 650 and a DPS of 55. Her abilities include:
Essence Bomb: This ability helps her launch a bomb that can cause 100 Damage in a 7m radius, but it will cost her some health.
Life Drain: This ability helps her drain enemy health while regenerating her own health.
Malice: This ability helps her project blood shards that cause damage.
Soul Exchange: It helps her swap her health level with an enemy target.
Abilities like Essence Bomb and Malice help her control the crowd. Defensive abilities like Life Drain or Soul Exchange help her regenerate her health, which enhances her survivability and makes her more sustainable.
In the early stages of the game, her poking and harassment abilities help her advance in any lane. Her scaling abilities help her gain an edge over the opposition in the mid-game. She can dominate the game's later stages by taking down high-priority targets using her Soul Exchange and Malice abilities.
As for her disadvantages, susceptibility to burst damage is one. You can overcome this by coordinating with the team instead of scouting it out alone. Additionally, crowd control abilities can help you circumvent this shortcoming to a certain extent.
Lady Geist is more effective when you use her skills in a combo. However, this is a disadvantage at the start, and the only way to overcome it is to practice more.
In prolonged engagements, you have to manage your cooldown well; otherwise, over-reliance will cause a problem.
Once you take care of these disadvantages, it becomes easy to use her abilities to the fullest.
9. Ivy
Ivy is a champion known for her various playstyles. While most other heroes lack mobility, Ivy stands out when it comes to mobility.
Her stats include DPS of 64, Ammo of 33, Max health of 550, and move speed of 7 m/s. The abilities which help her stand out include:
Kudzu Bomb: It helps her project a set of choking vines forward, causing damage to enemies and slowing them down.
Watcher's Covenant: It helps connect with nearby allies and heal them.
Stone Form: This ability helps her stun and damage nearby enemies.
AirDrop: It helps her drop an ally or a bomb from the top, which can slow down enemies.
Her crowd control abilities, like AirDrop, Stone Form, and Kudzu Bomb, help you get ahead in any lane. These abilities help her in the early stages of the game as well. In the mid-game, she causes high damage with these abilities to disrupt enemy lines from a distance. Once you scale her abilities, the damage she can cause goes up, which in turn helps her devastate enemy lines.
Cooldown reliance is the problem she faces. The only solution is to procure items that reduce the cooldown and manage the cooldowns better.
Her susceptibility to heavy damage is another one of her problems. Coordinating with the team is the solution to this problem.
Good early game presence and proper positioning are required when you choose Ivy. However, Ivy is an excellent choice once you get accustomed to these 2 aspects.
10. Dynamo
Most of the above heroes I have covered have a tanky profile. However, Dynamo is different since it plays more of a support role but can also engage in various stages of the game.
Dynamo has made it to this list because of stats like DPS of 52 and Max health of 650. Abilities of Dynamo which make an impact include:
Kinetic Pulse: This ability releases an energy pulse that damages and knocks enemies.
Quantum Entanglement: This ability helps Dynamo disappear and reappear a little distance away. In a nutshell, it aids mobility.
Rejuvenating Aurora: This ability helps him restore health.
Singularity: This ability helps Dynamo pull enemies towards him and damage them.
Kinetic Pulse Helps Dynamo establish dominance right from the start. Crowd control abilities like Singularity help him target particular enemies and prioritize high-profile targets, which helps him in the mid-game. His scaled-up abilities help him in the late game.
Despite having abilities that aid his mobility, his fragility is still a limitation. That's because Dynamo doesn't fare that well against high burst damage for a considerable time. The only way to overcome this shortcoming is to be aware of your positioning and not get caught. Additionally, itemization too helps overcome this shortcoming.
Since the amount of damage that Dynamo can cause is limited, he needs to rely on team coordination. That's why you need to go through the learning curve of team coordination.
Versatile abilities, along with not-so-severe shortcomings, are the reason why Dynamo is on this list.
11. Pocket
Pocket is a good option if you're looking for a well-rounded hero. The shotgun-wielding champion has a lot of potential due to his abilities and his high DPS.
His stats include a DPS of 70 and a Max health of 500. Once you take a look at his abilities, it's easy to understand why Pocket is present on this list.
Barrage: Barrage helps him launch projectiles, which can slow down enemies and cause damage.
Flying Cloak: This ability helps him swiftly move forward to a location and damage enemies while traveling.
Enchanter's Satchel: It helps the hero get into a suitcase and emerge from it after a while to cause damage.
Affliction: It helps deal damage to all enemies nearby, spread over time.
Since Pocket has crowd-control abilities, it becomes easy for him to deal quick damage at the start of the game. In the mid-game, his zoning abilities and swift movement abilities help in team fights and eliminating enemies. In the late game, his survivability and ability to cause damage come in handy.
However, he does have a disadvantage: his vulnerability to crowd control. If enemies lock him down, they can inflict heavy damage and bump him off. The only way to overcome this is to position yourself right and coordinate with the team. That will ensure you aren't caught on the wrong foot again.
Additionally, he doesn't have abilities that regenerate his health, which is another disadvantage. This disadvantage can be overcome by procuring shields or items which can regenerate health to a certain extent.
Once you take the right steps to overcome his disadvantages, it becomes easier to dominate the game.
12. Shiv
Shiv has numerous abilities that represent controlled aggression. That's why he can inflict burst damage, adapt to various stages of the game, and have a fluid strategy.
Stats that help him stand out include a DPS of 60 and a Max Health of 600. His unique abilities include:
Serrated Knives: This ability helps him throw knives which can damage and slow down enemies.
Slide and Dice: This ability helps him dash forward and damage enemies.
Bloodletting: This ability helps reduce immediate damage experienced by deferring the rest of the damage over time.
Killing Blow: This ability helps instantly kill enemies if their health is below a certain level.
The lethal ability is what makes him versatile and suitable for any stage of the game. Slide and Dice come in handy in mid-game because of excellent crowd control. In the late stage, his combos can come in handy. Sure enough, it takes time to learn the combos, but it's worth it.
Shiv has a weakness against tanks. However, if you focus on procuring the right items, it's easy to eliminate this weakness completely. Additionally, Shiv is vulnerable to crowd control as well. If you coordinate with the team, it becomes easy to avoid damage from the crowd control abilities.
Most of his abilities require you to be close to enemies. You need to be careful about that and ensure you position the champion right to avoid getting caught on the wrong foot.
Once you know how to overcome the shortcomings of this champion, he is an excellent option to overcome any opponent.
Considerations while choosing among these Deadlock heroes?
Judging the above champions on these parameters and choosing the right one becomes easy.
1. Playstyle
Not every champion has abilities that align with the playstyle of the player. For example, if you like to be in the background, supporting the team, but your champion has mostly defensive abilities, such a champion won't serve you well. That's why it's crucial to determine your playstyle and that of the champion while choosing one.
2. Role suitability
Remember that in Deadlock, your team matters a lot. Once you coordinate the attacks with the team, it becomes easy to dominate the opposition. Therefore, you need to choose a champion according to the role in the team. For example, a team doesn't need only tanks. Support champions are equally important. That's why consider the team composition and choose from the list above.
3. Opt for a champion that's easy to master
Deadlock is a newer game. Therefore, there are no veteran Deadlock players. That means the tips and guides you have access to are limited. You will have to go through the learning curve yourself. To shorten this learning curve, choose a champion that's easy to master.
4. Current Meta
Lastly, keep an eye on the current meta. It's always a good idea to choose champions who have been buffed in the current meta. Choosing a nerfed hero puts you at a disadvantage.
Tips to dominate Deadlock using these heroes
Merely choosing the right deadlock champion won't help you. Additionally, follow the tips below to gain an upper hand.
1. Invest time in Versatile Heroes
If you have gone through the list above, you'll realize that most of them are versatile champions suitable for any stage of the game. Invest your time in mastering the abilities of such a champion.
2. Change according to Meta
Even if you have mastered a champion if he/she has been nerfed in the recent changes, it's a good idea to ditch that champion in favor of another one.
3. Cherry pick among the abilities of your champion
DPS, or the damage which the champion can cause, is extremely important. Look into the amount of damage a champion's abilities can cause before choosing one. The same champion can have abilities with vastly different DPs. That's why even when you choose the right champion, decide which ability is perfect for a certain situation and use the ability accordingly.
4. Consider cooldowns while choosing the heroes
Different champions have different cooldown periods for different abilities. It's a good idea to check the cooldown period of the champion you choose and ensure it's not excessively long.
