Ranked play in Deadlock has just launched, and while it’s probably just a temporary setup since the game is still new, it actually feels like this unique system could be a better way to handle competitive play compared to other games.
Right now, the ranked mode in Deadlock is pretty basic, clearly just the first version of a system that’s going to evolve. You’ll notice there are limited times when the ranked queues are open, which adds to the early-game feel.
How Does Ranked in Deadlock Work
Before you dive into ranked games, there are a few things you need to check off your list. This includes unlocking the ranked mode, meeting the eligibility requirements, and being aware of the timings.
How To Unlock Ranked in Deadlock
To unlock the ranked mode in Deadlock, you need to play 50 normal games. Just a heads-up: this doesn’t include private matches or co-op bot games.
Other Deadlock Ranked Rules
After you unlock ranked mode, you’ll need to pick a schedule. Then, it’s just a matter of waiting for your turn to queue up for a ranked game. Keep in mind that if you have any voice or text bans from past misconduct, you won’t be able to queue for ranked matches.
So, maintaining good behavior is key to being eligible for ranked matchmaking. Also, right now, you can only play solo—there’s no party queue option available in Deadlock ranks yet.

Deadlock Ranked Schedule
The Deadlock ranked queues kick off on Tuesday, October 15th, at 8:00 PM GMT. From then on, you can access the ranked queue every day using the “Play Ranked” option in-game, available from 1:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 10:00 PM PT for players in the US. Each region will have three different time slots for ranked play.
If you want to switch regions, you can only do that once a week. To check and pick a time slot for the ranked queue, just follow these simple steps:
1. Go to the Play option and click on Select Schedule.
2. Choose your preferred timing from the available schedules.
3. Hit the Set Schedule button to get ready for ranked matchmaking.
How Do Deadlock Ranks Work
The Deadlock ranked mode is still in its early stages, and for now, it only allows solo queues. To earn your first ranked medal, you need to complete at least seven games.
Once you’ve hit that mark, you’ll receive your new rank medal on the following Tuesday. The first calibrated rank medals will be handed out on October 22, 2024, at 8:00 PM GMT.
In Deadlock’s ranked mode, there are a total of 11 medals, each divided into six levels. These medals will be visible to everyone in the ranked lobby and can also be found in the player history tab. We’ll be adding details about the medal tiers and their images once the ranked mode officially launches.
To distribute the medals, Deadlock will use a unique algorithm that differs from those in other multiplayer games like Dota 2 or Valorant. This algorithm will evaluate everyone's performance simultaneously, taking into account the games you've played and how your opponents performed in their subsequent matches.
Deadlock Ranks
These are the Deadlock ranks from lowest to highest.
Initiate
Seeker
Alchemist
Arcanist
Ritualist
Emissary
Archon
Oracle
Phantom
Ascendant
Eternus
Each rank will be broken down into six subranks, with I being the lowest and VI the highest. This setup is similar to what you see in Dota 2. In ranked matchmaking, players will only compete against others who have the same medals.
