Hey! Today I’m going to talk about how to utilize cross-platform gameplay and cross-play progression in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, and CoD Warzone. This includes other games released after 2019 such as Cold War or Vanguard.
First, lets understand what is crossplay (cross-platform play) and cross-progression.
When you say that CoD MW3 & Warzone are crossplay, it means that all platforms can play against or with each other. For example, you as an XBOX player can face or queue up with PC, PlayStation, and Mobile players.
However, when we talk about Cross progression, it means that you as an XBOX player can link your PlayStation (PSN) account to your Activision account and then play on PlayStation as well, resuming where you were with all progress transferred. This incudes Game progress, Battle pass progress, CoD points, ranks, you name it.
Therefore, both CoD MW3 and Warzone are crossplay and cross-progression games.
However there is a limitation, in order to play on another platform, you need to buy the full version of MW3 for that platform as well, or in case of Warzone which is free-to-play, you don't need to buy anything.
When crossplaying from a PC or console to a console, there's a trick that if an owner of the console you want to play on already has the game on his own account, he can play it on your account too without you needing to buy it. The same does not work if you as a console player want to play on a PC - you need to buy the game there regardless.
How To Turn off Crossplay in MW3 and Warzone?
Absolutely, console players can choose to enable or disable crossplay in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone.
For PlayStation players, managing crossplay is a breeze. Here's how:
Open the Options menu.
Go to Settings and select Account & Network.
Pick your Crossplay option.
On Xbox consoles, handling crossplay settings is straightforward:
Open the Guide menu from the Xbox dashboard.
Navigate to the Settings menu.
In the General tab, choose Online safety & family.
Select Privacy & online safety.
Click on Xbox Live privacy.
Choose View details & customize.
Under Communication & multiplayer, decide whether to Allow or Block crossplay in the You can play with people outside Xbox Live column.
Should I disable crossplay in MW3 & Warzone?
It's usually a good idea to have crossplay on because it makes finding games faster. But, there's a catch – some cheaters, especially on PC, can be a problem. So, if you're on console and notice too many cheaters, you might think about turning crossplay off.
Keep in mind, though, if you disable crossplay on PC, you won't be able to add friends who play on consoles. Just know that turning it off can slow down your matchmaking because you'll be matched with a smaller pool of players.
How To Play MW3 & Warzone Cross-Platform?
If you're wondering how can you start playing CoD on another platform, you need to do a few steps first. It won't take long, I promise.
Find the “Linked Accounts” page on the upper right end of the corner, if it’s not there, it should be somewhere on the CoD profile page and click it.
You will then see Battle.net (PC), Xbox Live, PSN, and Mobile. Press Link with the one you want to be linked to.
If you want to link to a PC account to your CoD profile, press Battle.net and sign in with your Battle.net account, if you don’t have one, creating it is quite fast. You can create a Battle.net account here.
If you want to link a Playstation account to your Activision profile, press PSN, and log in with your PSN account to link it. If you don't have a PSN account, you can create one here.
If you want to link your XBOX account, press Xbox Live and log in, and if you don't have one, you can create one here.
You don't need to link a Warzone Mobile account since your WZ mobile account is your Activision account itself. To play Warzone Mobile, you would log in using your Activision account. You can download the games via in the App Store or Google Play.
That's all, you have now linked your desired platforms to your Activision account.
