Blizzard is introducing its 44th hero in Overwatch 2 — Wuyang, a water-wielding support from China. Formerly known as Codename: Aqua, Wuyang is set to make waves in Season 18. Here’s everything we know about Wuyang’s release date, lore, trial window, expected abilities, and where he might fit in the meta.
Blizzard has confirmed that Wuyang’s limited-time hero trial will run from:
August 14 – August 18, 2025However, Overwatch 2 typically updates on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. PT, so the trial will likely end on August 19 at 11 a.m. PT.
This trial gives players early access to test Wuyang’s support playstyle before his full launch.
Wuyang is a rebellious student from Wuxing University’s Water College, a new location in Overwatch lore.
Here’s what we know:
This adds another academic setting alongside Oasis University, where Moira worked and the Phreaks appeared during Hazard's teasers.
More lore is expected at ChinaJoy 2025, beginning August 1.

Wuyang will officially launch in Overwatch 2 Season 18, expected in Fall 2025.
Like Hazard and Freja, he’s going through a limited-time trial before becoming a permanent addition to the roster.

Here’s a quick summary of everything we know:
