Since its launch on October 4, 2022, millions of players have jumped into Overwatch 2, trying out new Heroes and taking part in seasonal events. With a passionate and growing community, Blizzard is clearly focused on keeping the game welcoming for everyone.
One way they’re doing this is through the Endorsement system, which lets players give props to teammates for great performances.
What Are Overwatch 2 Endorsements?
In simple terms, Overwatch 2’s endorsement system lets you give a thumbs up to teammates for a job well done. After each match, you can "endorse" up to two players, essentially complimenting their performance.
Just like Overwatch 2 allows you to report toxic behavior, endorsements give you a way to highlight positive players. While the original system was designed to encourage good vibes over toxicity, Overwatch 2 adds more incentive to recognize standout teammates. Here's what you need to know about how endorsing works and the perks that come with it.
How Do Endorsements Work In Overwatch 2?
In Overwatch 2, endorsement levels range from "Rank 1" to "Rank 5," with one being the default and five being the cap. The more endorsements you get, the higher your level goes. However, your endorsement level can drop if you get reported too often, stop receiving endorsements for a while, or quit too many matches early. It's unclear exactly how many endorsements you need to reach Rank 5, but most "good teammates" will hit that top level before too long.
The number you see next to your teammates' profile after a match is their current endorsement level. You can also check out other players' endorsement levels by interacting with them through the game's social features.
How To Check Your Endorsement Level
There are a couple of easy ways to check your endorsement level. The fastest is right from the main menu.
In the top right corner of the screen, you’ll see your name along with your player icon and banner. If you right-click on your name, a mini version of your career profile pops up, showing your equipped title and your endorsement level, which appears as a number inside a small circle next to your name.
Endorsement Rules
You can endorse up to two players after each game.
You can only endorse the same player once every 12 hours.
Endorsements are not available in custom games, 1v1 modes, or Yeti Hunt.

Benefits Of Endorsement
Getting recognized for a great performance in Overwatch 2 comes with more than just a pat on the back—endorsements also reward you with XP, helping you move through the Battle Pass faster.
The amount of XP you get depends on your Endorsement level, which goes up to five. While it’s unclear exactly how many Endorsements it takes to level up, it usually requires dozens just to hit level 2.
To reach level five and get the most XP per match, you’ll need to win over a lot of teammates. Aim for as many commendations as you can—it shows you're the kind of teammate others enjoy playing with.

How To Rank Up Endorsement Level in Overwatch 2 Fast
Nobody really knows how many Endorsements you need to rank up and how the system exactly works, this is sadly due to Blizzard not revealing the exact system. However, many players have reported the following tips to level up your Endorsement level fast in OW2:
In most cases, healers get endorsed, therefore play a healer and play it well. Consider maining Mercy.
Be super nice to people, use the chat but maybe not voice chat unless you have a great voice, be positive, and guide the team
Endorse others fast as soon as the game ends since that reminds them to endorse you back
Play arcade modes since people who play arcade are usually more chill, talkative, and willing to endorse you
Use the "hello" and "thank you" voice lines frequently to appear more friendly
Do not leave games. Leaving results in about -50 endorsements
Get endorsed frequently. Your endorsement rating decays if you don't receive any endorsement ratings for several matches in a row, however, it doesn't decay
You need about 2000 endorsements to reach the maximum level 5

History of Endorsement
Before Overwatch 2 came out, endorsements were split into three types: "Shot Caller" and "Good Teammate" were for your team only, while "Sportsmanship" could be given to any player. The endorsement level icons also reflected the ratio of endorsements you got. Instead of Battle Pass XP, endorsements used to reward Loot Boxes.
Summing it up
Endorsements are still a mysterious system with no concise algorithm we can use to decode it, however, we have a pretty good idea how it works.
