As a live-service game, Overwatch 2 regularly drops new events and in-game opportunities for players to jump into, offering rewards like Battle Pass XP, collectibles to customize profiles, new cosmetics for favorite heroes, and more.
Making its debut in Season 12, Overwatch 2 introduces a new event called Competitive Drives. These events will happen every season, offering players a range of rewards, including a brand-new item type called Signatures. If you’re curious about what Competitive Drives are and how they work, check out all the details in the guide below.
How Do OW2 Competitive Drives Work?
In Overwatch 2, Competitive Drives are a new type of event happening each season, usually in the final weeks of a Competitive Season. To join in, all you have to do is keep playing Competitive Play – Role Queue.
As you play, you’ll earn Drive Score after each win or loss. The score you get equals 10x the Skill Rank Percentage gained after a match. For example, if you win and gain +22% towards your next rank, you’ll also earn 220 Drive Score points. If you lose and drop -22%, you’ll lose 220 Drive Score points from your total for that Competitive Drive event.
As you hit certain Drive Score checkpoints, you’ll unlock bonus rewards, like bundles of Competitive Points or the new Signatures item.
Once you reach a checkpoint, your Drive Score won’t drop below that level, even if you lose. Any Signature rewards you earn will stay available for your player profile until the next season’s Competitive Drive event kicks off.
