The skills of the player matter a lot in CS2, but so does your familiarity with the map. Truth be told, mastering all the maps takes a long time. Knowing the best CS2 maps and familiarizing yourself with those is a better approach to gain an edge.

To help you out, I have compiled a list of the best CS2 maps so that you can stick to these and start honing your skills.

1. Dust 2

cs2 dust 2
Dust 2 is synonymous with the CS universe. Whether you have played the original CS or CS:GO, Dust 2 is the most popular map in all game versions. The dusty backdrop in which it is set makes it timeless. A mixture of tunnels and open spaces makes it engaging.

Another reason it's so popular is because of the simple design. Play it a handful of times, and you will be familiar with the major landmarks like A Long or B Bombsite.

The map was remastered for CS2. However, the changes were limited to graphics and lighting. The older Dust 2 was a bit dark in certain parts, especially inside tunnels and closed areas. That has been improved in remastering. Overall, the map retains the rest of the aspects, like rooftops, tunnels, and narrow streets.

The map has something for Ts as well as CTs. It is suitable for tactical gameplay as well as sniping action. Besides, multiple entry and exit points make it tough for a single side to dominate the entire round.

Since it has all the attributes of a well-balanced CS2 map and is synonymous with the game itself, there is no doubt it is one of the best CS2 maps.

2. Mirage

cs2 mirage
Mirage is based in a middle eastern town that receives plenty of sunlight. If you look at the buildings around, you will find them traditional and modern. This hybrid environment makes the map aesthetically pleasing and full of contrast.

Numerous entry points to the A site ensure plenty of opportunities for the Ts when CTs have captured the area. Similarly, B site has multiple access points, making the game unpredictable.

To a certain extent, the map can be considered symmetrical. As for the remastering changes, I would just say that the color palette has changed, not the map. Therefore, it is easier to spot different surfaces and textures. Besides that, the varied colors also make it easy to spot the enemies against those surfaces.

With multiple access points and certain vertical aspects, the map supports multiple playing styles. It offers snipers an equal chance and simultaneously provides plenty of opportunities for close and mid-range combat.

Since mirage is another well-balanced map, its presence on this list won't surprise anyone.

3. Inferno

cs2 inferno
Inferno is based in a picturesque Italian village. However, don't mistake it for being an easy one though.

To start with, it's not symmetrical. Ts have more routes to reach the bombsite and thwart the ambush by CTs. However, more routes also require better coordination by Ts to plant the bomb. It isn't going to be a cakewalk for anyone.

When it comes to changes, I would like to say that the map was made aesthetically pleasing, and many redesigns were done to ensure it does look like the Italian countryside.

For example, T-spawn was redesigned according to the theme but made much more open. The pit area of the map is now more well-lit and, therefore, offers better visibility. Church is now more real and also a tad bigger.

Fortunately, the bomb sites haven't undergone much change. Therefore, if you are a veteran player of this map, you'll find that the redesign is significant but doesn't alter the gameplay and strategies much.

A mixture of narrow alleyways and open spaces, along with multiple access points, have certainly made this map more challenging and, therefore, more exciting.

4. Anubis

cs2 anubis
How about a map built for bomb defusal?

That's Anubis for you. It's based among the architectural wonders of Egypt. Both bomb sites provide multiple angles and access points. Beyond the bomb sites are upper and lower areas, which certainly add to the map's complexities. With so many elements in the map, tactical gameplay certainly reigns heavy when playing this map.

It is a new map. Once you play the map a couple of times, it becomes clear that it is symmetrical. Every side has a central area connecting the spawn. Corridors and rooms are similar for both teams as well. That certainly helps you learn the map quicker.

As for the central area, that's the venue of action in most cases as it consists of a large courtyard along with pillars and a river beside it. Of course, these are connected with rooms and corridors leading to other map areas. Rooms and corridors also have a vertical aspect, increasing the complexity.

Once you start holding angles and sightlines, you realize that every map aspect is well-designed, including realism and light presence. If there was ever a map that you could dominate purely based on skill, it is this one.

5. Nuke

cs2 nuke
Nuke is a map true to its name, based in a Nuclear power plant. This map highlights the various control points it offers on different levels. When captured and defended well, such control points can put you in the driver's seat on this map.

A unique aspect of this map are the bomb sites. They are placed on top of one another. Speak with any player who has played numerous rounds on the map, and they will tell you it is favorable for CTs. The primary reason is the quick rotation due to its small footprint.

Besides that, the vertical stacking of bomb sites doesn't help the Ts either. For the Ts, the only option is to play aggressively. You have a fighting chance on the map when you are blazing fast and surprise the CTs before they take control of the sites.

As for the changes in CS2, Nuke got only cosmetic ones. Lighting is now better, along with reflections. New materials have been added to the map. However, since the map is pretty small, even these little changes make the map seem new.

The challenges it offers, its small footprint, and the aggressive gameplay it demands help Nuke earn a spot on this list.

6. Ancient

cs2 ancient
The backdrop of Ancient is what makes it unique. It is based on an archaeological site interspersed with ruins and greenery. Ancient ruins dot both the bomb sites, making the map unique.

As for the map, it is a huge map and has many different passages and corridors offering different angles and approaches to both teams. If you have played the older Ancient map, you would know that it had numerous grenade points, making it challenging. However, apart from this, it tilts in favor of CTs.

Entry to bomb sites provides fewer angles, which means Ts will likely get ambushed. Tight corridors further make it easy for CTs to target Ts.

CT spawn is located close to both bomb sites, making it easy for CTs to dominate the game. Due to these aspects, you can't call it a balanced map.

The only option for Ts is to gain swift mid-control if they want to dominate the round. This gives rise to fierce combat in the middle.

While it was expected that remastering of Ancient could balance it out a bit, only texture and light changes were made to the map.

The predictability of the map, where CTs will try to take the bombsite, and Ts will go for mid-control, makes it challenging rather than boring, and that's why it is on this list.

7. Vertigo

cs2 vertigo
Vertigo is an even map for both teams. However, if you were to classify it as favorable, it would favor CTs slightly.

To start with, it's a bomb defusal map located in an under-construction skyscraper. The Name vertigo indicates that the map offers vertical levels to play. Since it's based around a skyscraper, there is no hope for survival if you fall down. That's why you must ensure you don't fall apart from handling the enemies.

As for the bomb sites, both sites are on the topmost level of the skyscraper. That's why CTs seldom spend time on the lower level of the map. The best bet for the team that wants to win is to use grenades to their advantage. The layout of the map is such that quick rotations are possible. That's why the grenades come into play not just as distractions but also to avoid ambush.

CTs usually try to take control of the mid in this map to ensure they dominate the game, whereas Ts utilize quick rotations to plant.

During the CS2 remastering, vertigo didn't receive many changes besides the lighting upgrade, so all the old strategies work.

The challenging nature of the map, along with the risk of falling down into the abyss, makes Vertigo one of the best maps.

8. Overpass

cs2 overpass
Very few maps are multi-layered in CS2, and Overpass is one of them. Besides that, Overpass underwent many changes when it was added to CS2.

Overpass experienced pathway changes, structural changes, design, and texture changes. The usual lighting changes were made as well. While the iconic elements of the old Overpass map are still present, there are a lot of new elements as well.

That brings us to the important question of why it is on this list?

Because of the difficulty level. The map has the novelty of CTs spawning very near the bomb site, which means that instantly, CTs have the advantage. Some might call it a CT-sided map because of the same. However, such spawning allows Ts to control the connector, thereby blocking the rotation. While the map might seem one-sided, it also presents an opportunity.

The map's difficulty level and the extensive remastering make it one of the best CS2 maps.

9. Italy

cs2 italy
Italy is a hostage rescue map in CS2 available in the casual mode. The remastering of the map led to many changes, like more realistic buildings, as you would find in Italy. The map is also more charming, to say the least. Also, new textures have been introduced along with new lighting to increase the map visibility. Also, two additional connector areas mean players need to return to the drawing board to develop a better strategy.

In CS:GO, Italy was considered as slightly tilted towards the Ts since they could hold angles and keep the hostages. However, the new corridor connectors make it comparatively easier for CTs to escape with the hostages.

It means that the Ts no longer have an advantage with respect to the hostages and have to hold on more angles to thwart the CTs from taking the hostages.

The excellent overhaul and balancing of the competition is what makes Italy a good map in CS2.

10. Office

cs2 office
The office is another hostage map in CS2. For CS2, the map did not undergo many changes, and merely the lighting, colors, and textures were updated. It means that if you have an older working strategy for the Office map, it still works.

The large office map gives plenty of opportunities for close and mid-range combat. It's all about CTs clearing different areas, using smoke, and deception to control the hostages better.

As for the Ts, they have a few angles and pathways they need to take control of to keep the hostages in captivity.

The verticality and the map's large footprint make it challenging for both teams.

While many maps on this list are CT-sided, this one tilts the odds in favor of Ts, even if slightly, and that makes this map so exciting.

Best Wingman maps in CS2

Besides these usual maps, it is easy to discover wingman maps for CS2. Wingman maps include a single bombsite; therefore, they are smaller than the original map. If you are looking for the best wingman maps in CS2, it's best to go with Overpass since it is currently one of the few wingman maps available.

Note: Wingman maps alter the gameplay and mechanics to a certain extent. So, you might or might not prefer to play such maps.
