With Call of duty modern warfare 3 slated to launch on November 10, most fans want to know about the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 system requirements. If you are one of them, I will help you out in the post below.
Not only will I cover the minimum and recommended system requirements, but I will also highlight what you should do in case your PC doesn't satisfy those requirements. Fortunately, there are numerous ways to fix those problems.
CoD Modern Warfare 3 Minimum System Requirements
The good news is that the developers will likely keep the minimum system requirements similar to
MW 2. The developers want to cater to a large enough audience. While they haven't released the exact requirements yet, if you benchmark them with the minimum requirements of MW 2, you get a fairly good idea of what they will be.
CPU: Intel Core i3-6100
RAM: 8GB
Video memory: 2GB
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960
Storage space: 72GB at launch
Recommended graphic drivers: Nvidia 516.59
OS: Windows 10 64 Bit (latest update)
Since an i3 processor is required, your existing gaming PC or laptop will likely fulfill this requirement. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
These are the minimum requirements. Therefore, do not expect the game to run flawlessly in HD settings with these specifications.
You might have to update a few drivers in your existing PC for the game to run.
If you have an AMD processor, you need an AMD Ryzen 3 1200 or higher.
CoD Modern Warfare 3 Recommended System Requirements
CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K / i7-4770K
RAM: 12GB
Video memory: 4GB
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060
Storage space: 72GB
Recommended graphic drivers: Nvidia – 516.59
OS: Windows 10 64 Bit (latest update)
There are a few reasons why you should go with a PC that has recommended system requirements rather than minimum:
Since developers haven't released the minimum system requirements and the game hasn't been launched yet, the minimum requirements are just assumptions. You might miss the boat if you just get a PC with minimum requirements.
COD is a fast-paced game. Therefore, even a single glitch or a bit of lag can cause you to lose the game. It's best to get a machine with recommended system requirements for flawless performance.
The smaller details matter a lot. To view these finer details, playing the game in HD settings at a higher FPS is best. That is possible when you get a machine with the recommended specifications rather.

How to Check Computer Specifications?
People who aren't avid gamers might not even know their computer specifications. Use the procedure below to find the specifications.
Step 1: Hold and press the Windows key with ‘R’ key. It will open the Run command box.
Step 2: Type dxdiag in it and click OK or press enter.
Step 3: The windows that pop up will list your machine's specifications.
Step 4: To check the display settings, click on the Display tab on top.
Being aware of specifications, will help you decide if you need an upgrade or can run the game once the beta is released.
What to do if computer specs can't satisfy MW 3 system requirements?
If your machine falls short of the specifications in a couple of aspects, upgrading it is a good idea. Check out the solutions below to do so.
Case 1: The operating system doesn't satisfy MW 3 requirements
Most new games being launched these days need Windows 10 64-bit. If you have a 32-bit, it is a good idea to upgrade it to 64-bit. A few steps to follow while doing so include:
Take a backup of your important files and folders. You can use a digital cloud or an external hard disk for the backup.
Create multiple hard disk partitions while installing the new OS. However, ensure that at least one partition will have 75 GB space or more. Of course, if that's not possible, you must install the game in the C drive without any partition.
Needless to say, always use the legal Windows copy to install the OS on your machine.
Case 2: Not enough RAM
At minimum, 8 GB RAM is needed to install and play MW 3 on your machine. If you have less RAM than that, there are two solutions.
Solution 1: Add more RAM
If there are vacant slots in your CPU or machine, you can simply add more RAM instead of replacing the current RAM. While doing so, always remember the following:
The clock speed of the new RAM stick and the older one should be the same.
The data rate of the RAM should be the same. Double Data Rate or DDR is how the RAM manufacturers describe the speed of the RAM. You cannot add DDR4 RAM to a machine having DDR3 RAM. In that case, it's best to replace the RAM.
After installing or connecting the new RAM, use the specification check method above to check if your machine detects the RAM.
Adding more RAM to your machine is cheaper than replacing the entire RAM. However, replacing it is the only solution if there are no vacant slots to install the RAM or you can't find one with the same clock speed.
Solution 2: Replace the RAM
You can directly buy an 8GB/12GB/16GB RAM stick and replace your current RAM with it.
The best thing is you can get the advanced RAM with higher data rate instead of worrying about clock speeds or data rates.
Case 3: Processor isn't good enough
The game won't run on your machine if the processor isn't up to par. Replacing the processor is the only solution in such a case. Fortunately, with some knowledge, it is not difficult to do so on your computer.
Step 1: Procure the processor compatible with the motherboard in your machine and the game.
Step 2: Turn off and unplug the computer before moving to the next step.
Step 3: Place the CPU on the side, remove the side panel, and spot the motherboard.
Step 4: Remove the heatsink gradually and spot the processor from the name etched on it.
Step 5: Pull out the processor and replace it with the new one.
Step 6: Do not forget to install the heat sink again, and after that, put the side panel back and connect the CPU to the power source.
Step 7: Turn on the CPU to ensure everything is working fine.
Notice the first step, I mentioned how the processor should be compatible with the motherboard and the game. If you have a very old machine, you might have to replace the motherboard as well. However, that raises compatibility issues for various other components as well. So, getting a new machine (covered below) is better.
Case 4: Hard disk space is not enough
While MW 3 might not need 72 GB, it is a safe number to go by until the game developer releases the exact specifications.
Now, less hard disk space can either mean you don't have a partition that is 75 GB or larger, or it might be occupied.
Solution 1: Extending a partition
If the existing partition isn't 75 GB, you can simply extend it. You can use a trusted partition wizard without losing your data.
Solution 2: Delete something
If you have that much space in a drive, but files currently occupy it, it is best to spend an hour or two vacating that space.
If the files are crucial and sensitive, instead of deleting the files, simply get an external hard disk and shift them to the hard disk.
Many people are comfortable with storing files online on the digital cloud. It is easy to get up to 10 GB of free storage space online on services like Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. Move the files to an online cloud service, and you will have enough space for COD MW 3.
All these solutions work if your machine lacks only one or two aspects. However, it's best to get a new machine if it has multiple issues. However, which one should you get? I will cover some solutions below.
What will run it well?
After reviewing numerous CPU and laptop options, I have shortlisted 2 laptops and 1 CPU that can comfortably beat the recommended specifications.
1. Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop
