Just over a day into the beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, players are already encountering a big problem: cheaters. Reports are coming in that hackers are ruining the early experience for many, which is meant to be a testing phase for the game.

Cheating has long been an issue in the Call of Duty series, with hackers often finding ways around the developers' efforts to stop them. This latest wave of cheating seems to have started with the release of Modern Warfare 3 on Xbox Game Pass. In response, the franchise took action by banning over 65,000 accounts from ranked play, targeting apps that scrape lobbies, and making major updates to the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system to make it more effective.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta went live on August 30, giving pre-order customers a chance to try the game before its official release on October 25. Unfortunately, just like with last year's Modern Warfare 3 beta, this beta quickly ran into problems with widespread cheating. Within hours of launch, videos showing cheaters using wall hacks, aimbots, and other exploits started appearing on social media.

One notable clip shared by ModernWarzone showed a cheater easily taking out other players, highlighting the ongoing struggle to tackle cheating in the franchise.

Players have been reacting with frustration and disappointment to the cheating in the Black Ops 6 beta. Some were surprised that anyone was shocked by the cheating, given how common it’s been in the series. Others estimated that around one in five players were using hacks like wall-hacks.

Many shared their own experiences, saying that almost every match had at least one suspicious player. There were also concerns about crossplay with PC players, with some suggesting that limiting matches to consoles only might help reduce the cheating.

A Fix Could Be Made After The Black Ops 6 Beta

Cheating was a major issue during the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 beta as well.

Cheating has been a persistent problem in the Call of Duty series over the years, and Activision has been working to tackle it. Cheating was particularly bad when Modern Warfare 3 launched. In response, the franchise took several steps: they updated the Ricochet anti-cheat system, banned 65,000 accounts from ranked leaderboards, and targeted lobby scraping apps.

It’s expected that Activision will take similar actions for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 after the beta testing period. However, there have been no official statements from the game producer addressing the current complaints.
